Over the past few weeks, I’ve discussed the sources of scrapbooking norms, including the internet, idea books and magazines, scrapbooking celebrities, television shows, classes, industry workers, manufacturers, and scrapbooking peers.
Most of my respondents, however, say there are few, if any, rules of the hobby, though there are definitely norms related to the purpose of scrapbooking:
- Scrapbooking is Relaxing and Fun (Purpose of Scrapbooking)

- Scrapbooking Brings People Together (Purpose of Scrapbooking)
- Scrapbooks have Heart and Soul
- A Sense of Community
- Do You Look at Your Scrapbooks?
- Scrapbooks Lie
- Is Editing Photographs being Dishonest?
- Do You Ever Redo a Scrapbook Page?
- All Style, No Substance
- Handwritten or Typed Stories
Scrapbooking is also commonly discussed in terms of deviance:
