8 Scrapbooking Blogs You Should be Reading

Each Thursday I review a book or blog related to scrapbooking. I thought it would be a good idea to let you know why I bother reviewing books & blogs. Today, I will focus on blogs and I’ll write about books in a couple of weeks.

The internet is great in that you can find pretty much anything you want. It is also great in that the tools needed to build your own website are more accessible than ever. If I want to teach a scrapbook class, I can use this platform right here. I don’t have to wait for Big Picture Classes to solicit me to be their teacher nor do I have to pitch them in order to teach a class (don’t worry, I have enough on my plate that teaching any scrapbooking classes is not something I am seriously considering at the moment). That being said, anyone can set up a website, declare (or imply) themselves an expert and start selling or giving away content.

This means there is a lot of content on the web. (Duh!) But a lot of content, means there is a lot to sort through. By reading Books & Blogs, you eliminate some of the sorting. We might not even realize how good or bad something is until we closely examine it and that is what I do in this series. I have unsubscribed to a few websites after reviewing them on here. I thought I enjoyed must of what they posted, but realized that they really weren’t for me. They weren’t necessarily bad, but just not for me. I won’t tell you which ones because I want you to read the reviews, check out their site, and then make the decision for yourself. [I realize this might be somewhat of a contradiction, but I do want you to make up your own mind.] I do this because I know what I like and what I dislike. I also check back in with sites I unsubscribe from periodically or I follow them in other ways (twitter or facebook). I realize that blogs evolve and life sometimes gets in the way so I don’t want to write any blogger off completely.

It might be helpful to you, dear readers, to know what I like about blogs overall and I will share with you some of favorite blogs I have reviewed so far:

• I like blogs that make me think. There are a lot of blogs that do this some of the time, but I’m still on the lookout for a blog that does this consistently within the scrapbooking niche.
• I like blogs that offer me a doable challenge even if i don’t actively participate like the weekly photo challenges from Simple Scrapper.
• I like blogs that consistently provide good content to the point that I can’t decide whether to retweet, comment on, or both. I have this happy problem a lot from Your Memory Connection and Get it Scrapped.
• I like blogs that consistently inspire me like from Ali Edwards.
• I like blogs that showcase the bad along with the good, like Cathy Zielske does.

Then there are those blogs that I haven’t yet reviewed but are on my radar as one’s to definitely watch:

• Almost Never Clever
• Load of Scrap
• Eco Scrapbook
